Poem

Al-Ahdaf Showed Us

And showed us "The Goals" — a page of glory's name,
Majesty — thine the lesson in exaltation's claim;
And people saw miracles that Yara wrought,
Sahar whose star no eclipse ever sought;
From him we draw the rapture of art's spell,
Art's echo — ancient, marching on as well;
And speeches like pearls fallen from the string,
From the necklace and the proof of eloquent ring;
Take now my verse as thou wilt — I am content,
Enough for thee that praise leaves me unbent;
Loyalty is my nature — and should time
Turn hostile, I obey what fate's design;
