Poem

Ask Me

Ask me of that heart that lives estranged,Ask me of love that captive hearts have changed.
It is my Lord's love lit my inmost fire,In it I found both healing and desire.
O breath that fills the wells of all I crave,O impulse that revives the heart's deep wave.
I see Him with the darkness as a lightThat breaks upon a heart once lost in night.
And sorrow of nostalgia circles meAs one who wept through lovers' history.
Had love's deep ocean claimed in overflowMy tears, I'd never mourn their ceaseless flow.
Had comfort been the object of my questFrom all my heart I'd sought a beloved's rest.
But I love God alone, for He aloneHath been the One who answers when I've grown.
And I shall bow to God alone, for HeCreated beauty and its mystery.
