O leaders of the East, ye have attainedGoals sweeter far than any dream ordained;
Ye came at eve unto the land of peace,Where banners met with banners in release;
Ye donned the robe of purity — your pledgeOpened a covenant of love on edge;
Ye saw the hero of Arabism, devout,Calling to God's religion without doubt;
Ye touched eternal glory made manifest,Above the homelands pointing toward the quest;
Ye heard the angels' voices raised in song,Peace's bright melody flowing sweet and strong;
Ye breathed the fragrance of the desert's bloom,Reciting histories of ancient fame and gloom;
Its very stones seemed ready to proclaim,And statues marvelled at the sculptor's name;
Gabriel called from behind his heaven's height,Descend, O guardians of East and Islam's light;
The Arab homeland knows no eastern bound —In western lands inspired Arabs may be found;
Ye are the East's support — our symbol yeHave lived — arise, restore antiquity;
O Egypt, thou hast borne in ages pastMen like great Ramses, guardian to the last;
Blessed be Egypt, blessed be that noble bandWho gathered round them roses of the land;
Clear light hath wrapped thee in its magic spellSince thou didst hold firm though the wound bled well;
Asia and Africa allied as one,Who rivals such a pageant in the sun?
Defend ancestral glory, and renewThe wondrous covenant beside the pyramids true;
Arise, light torches in the darkness deep,That they may be love's symbol and peace's keep;
Unite your hearts and spirits evermore,Be guardians of peace with courage at the fore;
Ye have encircled us with virtues rare,A bounty soaring far beyond compare.
