On the occasion of the vile conspiracy from which God preserved him
May God protect thee, Lord of all our sphere,
And keep far from thee schemers' craft and sneer;
Shield thee from people's malice evermore,
And grant thee life for Egypt, fortress sure;
We rejoiced in thy triumph — it was fate,
Our banner since the days of Menes great;
Thou hast restored to Arabism its quest,
And paved for it the path to victory blessed;
We grieved the fallen leader — hard the blow,
How could we not? Yet we accepted so;
When the great teacher passed, thou art the one
Worthy to steer the vessel we sail on;
Thy noble past lives on within our breast,
Thy present glory stands among the best;
Our unity tomorrow shall be grand,
Embracing all of us while life shall stand;
We'll humble nations that presumed too far,
And harboured false suspicions of our star;
With Anwar we shall conquer them entire,
And heal the wound of those who lost their fire;
Our unity's bell tolls with ringing sound,
Calling companions and good friends around;
I prayed to God that thou remain a light,
And that through thee the faithful land shine bright.
