Dedicated to him who gathered Arab heartsPresident Muhammad Anwar El-Sadat
O driver of the camels, tell the Nile to water them,Egypt through unity attained her diadem;
These are her glories through the East entire,God bless her, and God keep her from the fire;
What was, was treachery — let none despair,Leave fate to run its course through earth and air;
Zion sits in sorrow, busied with its grief,Today America comes forth to bring relief;
But Egypt's joys are heralded with cheer,With victory and triumph drawing near;
Arabism dawned anew in splendour bright,Love spread abroad through valleys of delight;
An ancient love whose purity becameA fountain life shall evermore proclaim;
I swear by God — may He preserve us still —This land of mine, whose light no night can kill;
Our leader lived for truth, by God defended,God's care in Egypt shall not be ended;
The Arabs' guide, by God's own eye kept whole,From every schemer's plot and tyrant's toll;
O unity that joined Egypt with her kin,Through unity we shall erase our foes within;
O unity we take from Saladin's day,When Crusaders sought to steal our light away;
Tell Zion's son to leave war's path aside,Do foxes come to raid the lion's pride?
Let not yesterday's chance encounter fool,We grasped its evil and its bitter rule;
This arrogance shall be your ruin's seed,You'll wander lost in wilderness of need;
Your pupil Satan curses you today,Since you presumed against the world to prey;
God's curse rain down as molten fire aboveThe Zionists, both near and far in love;
O Lord, O Lord, leave not a trace of them,And save the land from those who would condemn;
Thy promise true — destroy them for their deed,Their offspring is their tyrant's evil seed;
Protect us, God, our guardian, from their guile,Thy righteous faith is Egypt's hope and style.
