Sing me with poetry, sing once again,And cheer the heart that breaks beneath its pain.
Fill up the heart with visions bright and fair,With radiance and fragrance in the air.
Fill up the spirit with serenity,O mighty narrator, grant this gift to me.
Give from the heart a verse—for it is pure,A spirit cleansed, from stain and sin secure.
O singer of my inmost soul, your strainIs living light that shall forever reign.
In garden shadows wandered love sublime,A lofty passion, noble and divine.
You came to pour it forth in melodyThat inspiration of the soul sets free.
For poetry is life itself—the wholeOf wish for hearts that bear the broken soul.
